She didn't throw her folder in the fire, but she did leave it behind to think in the woods, so I think that's a good dramatic compromise. I wanted to navigate this scene from an "it all sucks, actually" perspective, because it does. I always find the interplay of family to be so interesting, which is why I think it's a copout when stories write everyone's parents as being uninvolved. You could say Malaya lucked out at having the best parents of the bunch, but there's also the issue that she's kind of been kept back from taking risks because her whole family was worried about the werewolf situation, and now they all have to adjust to the idea of her as an independent whole person who can operate outside the unit. Then you have someone like Aubrey who's mother frankly sucked, but there isn't a better mother waiting in the wings. She got dealt a bad hand, but there's no replacement or hope that someone might find her one day. I just like writing family dynamics, I guess.
Anyway, we're switching gears abruptly tomorrow lol
