I've had a few people who don't remember who Natalie is, because the conversation she had that set up her arrival was like 30 pages ago, and usually she only shows up like once a chapter. Check out the wiki that's linked at the top of the page! It's very robust (thank you to everyone who has contributed to it, you're amazing). The short version is that she's kind of Tom's pack's sponsor for entering Michigan and contending for the right to stake their claim on Crescent Lake. By comparison, Elias's mom Sara is backing Malaya and her cohort, but everyone in the council is aware that this gives the Ross family an unfair amount of power in the state.

If you live in or around the Chicago area, I'll be at some library conventions coming up for the rest of the summer! The Eisenhower Library in Harwood Heights on Sept 14th, and Gail Borden Library in Elgin on Oct 19th. I'll keep social media updated closer to the events to remind people! I had to cancel on CAKE because I had another obligation that day!
