Vote over at TWC and you can see a bit of Casey's thought process
I kind of knew this part would be a struggle, but daaaamn I keep having to reread what I've already done to make sure it makes sense lol. I think the problem is that I initially saw this in my head with Casey coming from a place of confidence, and gradually I realized that's not where she's at, so I've been struggling to accomplish what I have planned with her character shifting on me. There's an old cliche that sometimes your characters will do things that you didn't expect, and it sounds ridiculous because you're the one writing them! But it's true, sometimes a character's motivations come from a different place than you were anticipating when you get into the part where you're actually the scene and the things you wanted them to do and say don't make sense for their character anymore. Having Casey be more meek (but determined, and very much a werewolf) while Harvey is on the defense (and sad, and very much in her human side) was like, the opposite of what I had planned. But I made it work! I like the pages I wrote for next week a lot.
I'll be at IPPL Popcon in Darien, IL on Feb. 1st. I'll keep social media updated closer to the event to remind people! I will try to schedule more library conventions for next year :)
